Sales galore

Sales galore Posted on June 30, 20085 Comments

The Modern Gal thinks it must be about that time when stores rid their shelves of summer merch to make way for the coming fall season. Everywhere she’s gone in the past week has had a mega-sale going on (which is great when you need this and that to take care of all those issues that present themselves when moving into a new place).

I’m not going to post every single sale that’s going on: just assume your favorite store is having an end-of-season clearance saleathon right now. I will share some of the ones I’ve encountered in the past few days.

World Market calls it “Discovery Days,” I call it “My Master Card is going to self-distruct.” The website leaves much to be desired but a trip to the store is totally worth it.
Bed Bath and Beyond. I found a great chenile throw to replace my raggedy old fleece throw for about $15. I think original price was about three times that. Again, need to go to the store to find the best deals.
Kohls’ sale ends today, so go now. Kohl’s is one of those places that I go to not expecting to find anything and come out with bags and bags of stuff. Regular price is always cheap which means sales are not to be missed.
– I hit up the J.Crew outlet last week. It was having an end-of-season sale, so I can only assume that the regular J.Crews were having sales too.

Any other good sales out there?

  1. It’s freaking me out that all the Back To School stuff is out. We just got OUT of school!

  2. End-of-Season sales are my calling. Gap. Got a pair of black pants for $20. Of course, I have about 4 other pair of black pants, but when the pant fits, I buy. Because I’m not that easy to fit. I also got a cute Saturday-errand tank for $9 there. And I’m eyeing some black eyelet flats that I know will go down to $15 sooner or later. A word to the wise, I never buy anything at Gap full-price. It almost always goes on sale 2-3 weeks later.

  3. Keep waiting a couple more weeks and the sales will only get better (I speak from experience of working in retail for many years). Given the sorry state of the economy retailers are having a hard time unloading their goods. I would also think that this holiday season will be full of gongas galore well before the after-Christmas sales. I know I plan on saving up some cash to take advantage of this.

  4. Darn Blogger didnt post my comment!

I found some good deals at Express…editor pant on sale.

I am really looking for a cushy comfy loveseat. Let me know if you see any furniture deals!

  5. NPW: It freaks me out to think that there’s only about two months left until college football begins in earnest.

Angie: Agreed on The Gap and many other stores like it.

Jacquelyn: I cannot wait for the day after Thanksgiving.

Em: I’m in the market for a new coffee table, so I’ll be watching for good furniture sales coming up.
