Vanessa at Random Ramblings has introduced The Modern Gal to the concept of quirkyalone, which is a very modern gal concept.
The quirkyalone site defines the state of being as such: Quirkyalone: noun/adj. A person who enjoys being single (but is not opposed to being in a relationship) and generally prefers to be alone rather than dating for the sake of being in a couple. With unique traits and an optimistic spirit; a sensibility that transcends relationship status. See also quirkytogether, perkytogether, quirkyslut.
The Modern Gal, while in a longterm committed relationship with her beau, took the Are you quirkyalone? quiz and scored an 87, or very quirkyalone.
International Quirkyalone Day just happens to coincide with V-Day. I absolutely looooooovvvved all of your ideas for putting on a bachelorette party, so I put this question to you: What would make good IQD activities, be they for singles or quirkyalones in couples?
Well first, the flowers! Daisies are the official flower, so we have to have those! I had a party like this once and had a make your own card table. There were scissors, magazines, markers, glue sticks, etc. Everyone that came had to make a ‘friend’ card for someone else at the party. I also made the rule that every single person at the party had to leave with a card, which didn’t turn out to be a problem at all. It was a great ice breaker since there was a huge mix of people and most had never met. I made it potluck style too but no desserts so everyone was forced to make something besides sugar. I made a homemade cheesecake so there was an actual dessert and a few others broke the rules. Have to have music and good drinks. Oh, I had a twister mat down in an adjacent room and that was fun. Good times, good times. Can’t wait to hear what else others come up with!
