Spotted at The Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy

Spotted at The Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy Posted on February 11, 20081 Comment

The Modern Gal hit the mall yesterday after she discovered her wardrobe consisted mostly of two things for winter: heavy sweaters and T-shirts. Mission: find nice shirts that could work for a day at the office or a Sunday out and about on winter days that aren’t below 40 degrees.

I fell in love with this shirt at The Gap. I loved the color, I loved the cut, I loved the way it fit me everywhere … everywhere except the armband cuffs, which pinched my bulging biceps (or fatty biceps) and cut my circulation off. Begrudgingly I had to put the shirt back on the rack.

I rarely even step foot into Banana Republic anymore, but when I do I beeline for the sale rack. I found this fantastic silk blend sweater (so light it nearly felt like a knit) in winter white rather than orange. It was of reasonable price, even more so when I used my $10 off reward coupon from my Gap card.
I know this shirt looks much like the previous one, but being from Old Navy it’s neither silk blend nor costs more than $25. I loved the bright color (it comes in a few others) and the fact that it covered my midriff which my v-neck sweaters bought two years ago from Old Navy do not do anymore.

This is pretty much a t-shirt, yes, but it’s got enough dressy detail that I think it could work for the office if worn with a nice pair of slacks. Plus, it works on top of a long-sleeved T for the colder days. Also comes in a green color (it took every ounce of will power for me NOT to buy something in my favorite color, but the red looked pretty awesome too.)

  1. “For those winter days when it’s above 40 degrees.”
