The Modern Gal’s Super Bowl ad picks

The Modern Gal’s Super Bowl ad picks Posted on February 5, 20083 Comments

The Modern Gal presents awards for excellence in Super Bowl advertising to the following ads:

1. Budweiser. I’ve heard enough agreement that this was indeed the best. However, points docked for not showing the clydesdale running up a set of stairs.

2. Bud Light. I’ve generally hated this series of commercials, but this one was brilliant:

3. Doritos. Every person at the party I attended was on the floor howling after this one. Granted, it loses its effect after you’ve seen it once.

4. Tide. The mole on my high school band director’s face used to talk like this stain did, so perhaps this one just struck a personal chord. And, as the partygoers noted, those Tide pens don’t work very well.

5. E-Trade. They make a reference to money as “coins” and make a joke about clowns being creepy. Indeed.

6. And finally, everyone did a good job in choosing the NFL.com SuperAd. It was a great story AND they made a funny about the Texans sucking. And, quote of the year: “He didn’t even have the dream ’til I told him the dream.”

Well played all, well played.

  1. I like the last one the best. And I also enjoyed the parade balloon one for Coke cause it’s nice to see Charlie Brown win something for a change.
