The Modern Gal’s new workout plan

The Modern Gal’s new workout plan Posted on March 30, 20086 Comments

The Modern Gal is ashamed to admit she has a hard time getting motivated going to the gym. I don’t know why, either. Once I get there I like being there, I like how working out makes me feel. Yet somehow, when I’m sitting on the couch bumming around on the internet or reading a book or magazine, there’s just nothing that can make me get up and go work out. And when I get off work, I just feel like I have too much to do at home to justify taking time to work out.

Of course I know I need to work out. It’s the only I’m going to get into the shape that I want to be and get my weight in control. Plus, I really need more energy. Even when I get enough sleep at night I still feel groggy during the day. I’m tired of feeling tired, and I didn’t put enough effort into my health detox plan for it to work properly.

Starting tomorrow I’m turning over a new leaf: I’m going to try to become one of those morning people who gets up early to workout before work and all other activities begin. I’m going to bed an hour or two earlier than usual and getting up and hour or two earlier to walk the dog and head to the gym.

Consider yourself appopriately warned: I could be a grumpy gal this week as my body protests the early hour.

  1. the one good thing you have going for you, is the weather – it’s no longer freakin’ freezing outside…that was always my downfall, I could never get out of bed when it was cold! Good luck – can’t wait to hear how it all goes.

  2. Good luck to you! It is so much easier to get it out of the way in the morning if you can. That way you already feel like you’ve accomplished something when you start your day.

  3. I got up at 6:15 today and went to the gym. So we can be grumpy together. It really does make me feel better…I still just don’t wanna. It’s getting lighter earlier though so that should help.

  4. It’s really hard in the beginning but you will love it once your body gets into the new routine. You will feel alive and your skin will glow.

  5. I wish I could go in the morning, but I am already at work by 6:30. It’s a struggle to pick up my daughter and then go to the gym. But, if I did go in the morning and pick her up later, she would be in daycare for a very long time. At least with the way my husband and I are working it now she is not there from open to close.

I often fantasize that if I were a stay-at-home mama I would go to the gymmore. When I was part-time at work I certainly did.

  6. Kudos to you! I’d like to say I’ll be right there with you, but well, that would be a lie. Good luck though!
