Sunny days (temporarily) sweeping the clouds away

Sunny days (temporarily) sweeping the clouds away Posted on May 2, 20085 Comments

The 197 new posts in my blogreader are a direct result of the late Thursday night/Friday morning that I completely took off from the outside world. It was totally worth it, but of course now I’m way behind on what’s going on in your lives (but seriously, where were all of you yesterday when I was BORED OUT OF MY MIND? Just kidding). Forgive me if it takes some time to catch up.

I do have some wonderful news to report. Many law students have their real world job lined up a year and a half before they graduate. The Modern Beau, always opting to stand out from the crowd, didn’t, instead going for a really great job at a teeny-tiny firm that kept promising him a permanent job but never seemed to deliver because of lack of space for him.

Yesterday? (A week before graduation) He got a really awesome clerkship doing some criminal appeals work and he’s so stoked about it. I knew this whole not-having-a-job thing was really weighing him down, although he did a really great job of not letting it show. But last night and this morning? He was a completely changed person. You would have thought he’d won the lottery. Plus he got to say “peace out” to the firm which had denied him full-time employment. Always a bonus. I’ve probably said too much. He hates when I blog about him, but I’m so freakin’ proud of/excited for him.

Hence me taking the morning off of the real world. I wasn’t working til late today anyway, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spend time with a blissful Modern Beau. It made me happier than I’ve been in a while. It also helped that it was the most gorgeous day in the world. Clear-blue skies, warm sun, 78ish degrees, soft breeze. If I died then it would have been with a smile on my face.

Of course, as soon as I left him behind for work, the storm cloud settled in over my own head, fallout from the hell which broke loose right before I was supposed to have left work yesterday and hell which seems to still be going on now. Sigh.

Before learning about the MB’s new job but after hell beginning to break out at work, Vanessa made my day with a ‘you make my day’ tag, something I very well will pass on once I get caught up with everything else. THANK YOU V! But let me pre-emptively say you all make my day!

Now will someone trade jobs for me, mainly for today? I know you don’t know what it is I do, but I will say this — you have to work until about 10 or 11 tonight. Oh, and I’m looking to trade with someone who’s going to be getting off around 5 p.m. K? Thx.

  1. I get off at 5. You can have my job for a few days. I work for Radio Flyer.

  2. I’d offer to switch, but it’s way past 5 now. I hope you’re getting ready to go home soon!

  3. Jenn: SWEET! When do I start?

Allie: I think we sometimes have the same motivation problems. It might be an even switch 🙂
