I was a HUGE fan of Showbiz Pizza as a child. I had my 4-year-old birthday party there and only my 21st birthday party came close to topping the experience.
So you can understand why I keep watching this video of Rock-afire Explosion performing Usher’s “Love in the Club.”
The dude responsible apparently owns his own Rock-afire Explosion band and makes videos of the band performing more current tunes. I imagine that’s quite the conversation starter.
Fatz the gorilla totally freaked me out as a kid, but I was in love with Dook the drummer and the Looney Bird. I guess in retrospect the whole thing was bizarre.
CLARIFICATION: NPW asked what Showbiz was. Showbiz was the original incarnation of Chuck E. Cheese and a WAY BETTER one at that.
What the heck is Showbiz Pizza?! Like Chuck E. Cheese?
OMG me too! hahah I loved Showbiz Pizza!
OMG!! If I had my own Rock-afire Explosion Band I might never leave the house. I’m so jealous of that dude. And yes, Chuck E. Cheese could never truly kick it old skool like Showbiz did. I mean, which would you rather party with bears or rats? Think about it.
That might be the greatest thing I have ever seen. Wednesday night dinner is going to need to make a special Chuck E cheese trip! I firckin loved Showbiz growing up…. I think I was there every other weekend growing up, what else could we do in Dayton?
I remember Showbiz! I loved it as a kid, but rarely got to go there because my parents really hated it.
I too grew up worshipping the land of Billy Bob. I considered Chuck E. Cheese to be like Pepsi or Go-Bots, a pale imitation of a superior product.
Embarrassingly, I had my 11th or 12th birthday party at Showbiz, not my 4th…….but yeah, Showbiz was kickin. Rock on, Fatz.
Showbiz really was better!
