I’ve heard rumblings about this for the past few weeks, but apparently it’s a done deal. Domino, the funky home decor magazine is ceasing publication.
Here’s the e-mail the publishers sent out today:
Dear Readers!
It is with very heavy hearts that we say farewell. Over the last 4 years, in 28 issues, we have done our best to create a great magazine. We started with a real idea—that style is for everyone—and tried to carry it out with stories that provide inspiration and empower you to act on it. From your tremendous response, we know that we were onto something. In this tough economy, however, we simply weren’t able to get the advertising support we needed. As domino evolved, we never lost sight of our original democratic premise. Looking back at the manifesto we published in the premiere issue, the first tenet of domino is still the truest: Home should make you happy. We hope we have played a part in making this come true for you.
Love,
All the editors of domino
The exclamation point in the greeting is bizarre. You don’t go from exclamation point to a heavy heart.
And I’m curious: do we get a refund on our subscription?
You’re right; that exclamation point is strange. Maybe it’s a typo.
I have never heard of Domino, but it sounds like I would have liked it! C’est la vie.
I find the “Love” even weirder than the exclamation mark…
Strange that they didn’t just scale back and go online…
Ugh! First, my favorite magazine closes shop just a few months ago, and now this! I don’t know who this “Economy” jerkwad is, but if I ever find him, I’m gonna kick him in the knee cap!
