So we’ve been trying to make wedding plans these past few days, and let me go ahead and say I have yet to find the fun in wedding planning. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it more when I’m shopping for dresses and thinking of reception decor, but finding venues and getting a date nailed down is maddening.
Couple that with some really crappy drivers I encountered this morning, and Monday did not start well.
And then I saw this. And it made me spit out my coffee. (Please for the love of all things modern, go check out that link. It is so worth the five seconds of your time that it will take.)
Also, this is really adorable too.
Happy Monday, Modern Friends.
P.S. The Tumblr wedding blog thing turned out to be less than ideal, so the Modern Love Machine and I started an actual blog under — wait for it — OUR REAL NAMES (GASP!!!). If you want to keep up with it, e-mail me at themoderngal(at)gmail(dot)com for the URL. I shall not be linking to it from here as I’ve managed to keep my real identity separate from this blog for two and a half years, and I don’t intend to blow it now.
I hated the beginning part of wedding planning too. I cried more in the first month we were engaged than I have in our whole relationship, and we had our first angry fight over wedding stuff during that time as well. Not fun.
It's a little better now (date and venue locked down, photographer hired) but I do not ever want to plan another wedding. I'm already sick of mine.
Oh, hey- Congrats on the engagement! I like to come late to the party.
And not that you need my advice, but purple and green are the Joker's colors. You probably don't want your wedding guests worried that they are going to be gassed with Smilex at the culmination of the ceremony. As far as I know, Memphis does not have Batman coverage.
It seems like a lot of brides I've known have wanted to become wedding planners after their own weddings were over. I assume I cannot put you in that category.
Aww I'm sorry that wedding planning is not fun yet. Just wait, it'll happen! Once that date is locked up the real fun begins! Weeee!
I didn't really enjoy planning my wedding. It just wasn't fun, and my then-fiance (now hubby) lived out of state during the process, which made it so much harder. At least the dress-hunting was fun. 🙂
Thanks for the links. I especially love the Mario one.
FYI – you DID reveal yourself (not directly) via your blog postings but I won't divulge that info per your wishes. Good luck MG! 😉
We gave up on wedding planning the second someone pointed out that Sandals does free weddings. Sure, maybe not the most original way to go, but I planned my whole wedding in 2 hours at the travel agent. Before that, J and I were going nuts trying to figure out what to feed people and how we would pay for it. There was a lot of "and what kind of dressing should we have on the salad," "I dunno."
I have a complete fascination with people who can plan out every tiny detail and love the whole thing. It's kind of like bizarro me. But I do think there's this general idea that every girl is supposed to love every minute of their wedding and wedding planning. Seriously, it's okay if you don't. It doesn't say anything greater about the marriage overall. All it speaks to is your tolerance for wrapping jordan almonds in netting.
