Rival week, part 1, a preview Posted on November 14, 2007

It’s never too early (or late) in the week for a football discussion.

Sadly, there’s nothing about which to chat. Kentucky v. Georgia may have been a little more interesting a month ago. Boston College v. Clemson is a battle of mediocrity. And unbeaten Kansas faces Iowa State … 3-8 Iowa State. Hey, that rhymes! Snoooooore.

Oh, there’s also a little battle for midwestern supremacy this weekend. My research tells me that each installment of the Toledo War has come at the end of the season every year since 1935 minus one. That’s no coincidence. The schools like to pretend its the Big Ten conference championship game that doesn’t actually exist. It’s really just their way of keeping Northwestern and Purdue down.

You may think the THE Ohio State-Michigan game (Noon EST, the ABC) is a big deal. The Modern Gal certainly thought so last season when the Buckeyes were ranked No. 1 and the Wolverines No. 2.

Well, she was wrong:

Michigan fans, do not despair. Florida avenged your loss for you. Twice, actually.
