A bachelorette party for the atypical bachelorette

A bachelorette party for the atypical bachelorette Posted on January 26, 20086 Comments

Ok, The Modern Gal is up a creek without the proverbial paddle as she tries to plan a bachelorette party for her all-time best friend who is also the quintessential designated driver. That is, she really doesn’t ever drink and is your typical good girl.

Having attended plenty of raunchy drunken b-parties in her time, The Modern Gal turned to the internets for ideas on how to plan a more low-key ideas and found this pretty funny Bachelorette Party Guide, which prompts you to navigate the site by “type of bride.”

Click on “Virgin Bride,” and you see what I’m dealing with.
So, I’m turning to my modern peeps to help me out a little here with some ideas on fun (can be slightly raunchy, but let’s not go overboard) ideas for a bachelorette party. HELP!

  1. Hey! I’m had some friends who had a super-girly sleepover (complete with prank calls to boys and nail polish) and said it was a great bachelorette party. Also fun: a massage and martini combo at a spa. Or a bit more on the wilder side … you could set up a pleasure party but make sure they leave the super-raunchy stuff at home….

  2. Herman, I love that you were the first to comment on this AND you had a really good idea. You’ve obviously dealt with this issue before.

  3. Those paint-your-own pottery places are fun, and each person could make something special for J. I think you can take your own refreshments to most of them, and a lot have a room you can rent for the evening.

  4. M and I took a cooking class during our honeymoon, and it was a lot of fun.

I was invited earlier this year to a “virgin groom” bachelor party, which I ended up not being able to go to because my flight got canceled. The planned events included a beach bonfire, bike riding in the city, paintballing and video games. Those last two probably aren’t what you had in mind, but maybe a bonfire would be good.

  5. To join in the unexpected male contributions category here, there’s nothing like renting a cabin somewhere for a weekend. For the shopping inclined, you could go with somewhere like Blue Ridge, which is near little crafty-type places. Most have hot tubs and or big fireplaces/porches. Fun, low key, etc etc.
