Ode to brunch

Ode to brunch Posted on March 20, 20081 Comment

I had been happily typing away at the office, actually doing some work today … well, and monitoring my NCAA bracket (more on that later), until I received a major distraction in my inbox: The World Market weekly circular, subject line: 3 Days Left! Find your Easter entertaining essentials at World Market.

Have I ever told you how much I love brunch?

I love brunch because you get to sleep in and then gorge yourself on whatever kind of food you feel like and drink booze at an ungodly early hour and then wallow in your gluttony for a couple of hours. All in the name of being social. It also seems like the perfect way to say “Jesus died for us to save us from our sins. Let’s celebrate!”

I actually screamed at the Modern Beau on Sunday morning when he was still in his PJs at 10:30 a.m. “Why are you still in your PJs. BRUNCH!” I don’t think he forgave me until his frittata was going down the hatch an hour and a half later.

Because I love brunch so much, the e-mail (which I have pasted here because there’s nowhere on the World Market website for me to link to to show it to you because WM is bad like that) has me totally dreaming about brunch.

Since the photo is about a fourth of the original size, I’m listing the brunch items World Market is hawking in it: Italian roast coffee, French roast coffee, Italian soda, ginger snaps, macadamia nut pancake mix, sticky finger scones mix, Alaskan smoked salmon combo pack, drink mixes to add to champagne.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, YES, YES, YES!!

(Minus the having to make it yourself part which is anti the spirit of brunch.)
