My new home has more than just a living room, so I figured I’d keep showing you a few things about the place. I have no idea why people find the insides of other people’s homes interesting, but there’s obviously a reason that I pour through the homes sections of Southern Living and Domino and watch HGTV so religiously.

I picked up five of these photos at an arts fair while living in Chattanooga and then put them in some cheap frames I bought at Target. The sixth photo in the upper left corner is of the bird girl statue in Savannah.

My kitchen/dining room table is probably my favorite piece of furniture. It was the first piece of furniture I ever bought. My mom and I on a trip to Atlanta trekked about an hour out of the way to hit up a Pottery Barn outlet. It’s supposed to be a patio table, and when I bought it I told myself if I ever grew tired of it as a dining table I could put it out on the patio. Four years and I’ve not grown tired of it.

The S&P shakers are from World Market and the bamboo folding chair is one of a set of four that Currer Bell and I found in a trash pile near our house in Chattanooga.

When I bought my old townhome in Nashville, the first thing I did before moving in was paint the entire kitchen green. A shade I cannot even describe. Darker than avacado, more avacado than moss, more mossy than snot. It was my house and I was determined the best room in the house would also be painted my favorite color. I want to paint this room green too, but not quite that same color. Any suggestions on a shade?

  1. I love your design abilities. TRULY! Come to Chicago and help me decorate when I move out.

Lovely. Hope you had a semi-relaxing mini vaca.

  2. Ditto on your design abilities.

    The patio table is great.

    Lime green!!!

If you’re going for a deeper color, asparagus is cool. I don’t know how it would look on a large wall though. Sea green is a nice green too.

  3. I love green, too. But I wouldn’t even begin to know what shade to suggest. They all seem so similar to me.

  4. K: Thanks! I’ll be happy to come help đŸ™‚

Fishing Around: There was a color called asparagus at the Home Depot that I’ve liked. It’s definitely an option.

Jessica: Thanks! I didn’t do a very good job measuring out the spaces though. I’m lazy like that.

Allie: There’s something way more fun about it.

Noelle: It’s a hard color to figure out for paint.

Em: That’s a good idea too.

    V: Thanks!
