Avoiding the winter weight gain

Avoiding the winter weight gain Posted on October 31, 20083 Comments

It’s gotten crazy-cold where I live this week, and considering how far South I am, I’m assuming it’s crazy-cold where you are too. I’ve welcomed the temperature drop by breaking out all my favorite sweaters and boots. I know by February I’ll be screaming for warmer weather, but right now I totally dig it.

We tend to put on a little bit more weight during the winter months than summer, and for obvious reasons. We don’t get outside nearly as much — we like to bundle up and stay in. Health.com has some really easy tips to help ward off some of that weight gain. The very first tip? Don’t wear the baggy sweaters. I say baggy sweaters are fine, but wear them with your skinny jeans so you’re still less tempted to overeat.

  1. I’m the opposite. I find it difficult to get outside in the heat and humidity of the summer. I come alive this time of year.

  2. I’m going to try to exercise more (by which I mean I’ll start exercising) to ward off the weight gain. Plus, working out is a good way to get warm for a little while, and I generally feel like a Courtney-sicle all winter long.

  3. Well then I’m glad I just started being more aware of what I eat! I think I’ll take that baggy sweater tip into account. I’m way overdue for some new sweaters.
