13 Christmas movies you should have seen by now

13 Christmas movies you should have seen by now Posted on December 13, 200813 Comments

I’ve had a couple of requests for posts, and as always my modern friends, your wish is my command. Tomorrow I’ll address the challenge of making friends after college.

But today, at dear modern friend Angie’s request, let’s talk about the best Christmas movies of all time. Angie, I believe asked for a top 10 or something like that, but I’m afraid there’s no way I can rank them. There are too many classics out there that deserve their due and I think everyone has a different favorite. So the following is a list of 13 Christmas movies everyone should have seen at sometime in their lifetime in no particular order — one for each day of Christmas plus one.ย

This is totally making me crave a Christmas-themed movie night.

  1. I love the Garfiled Christmas Special. I also like Holiday Affair (the original). I’m not usually an old movie fan but I got this on TV a week or two ago and I really liked it.

  2. Christmas Story and Love Actually are MUST sees. I’ve sadly never seen all of It’s A Wonderful Life. I always jump in at the same point, mid-way through.

  3. “Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?”

I was actually thinking that I haven’t really watched a lot of Christmas films but 6 out of 13 isn’t so bad.

Ooooh. Looking forward to tomorrow’s post. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I have to admit I’ve never seen Elf because I have no patience for Will Ferrel. But you must watch the Year Without Santa Claus!

  5. Very good list, but really A Christmas Story has to be on there at least as much as most of the others…

I’m not a Will Ferrel fan myself, either (I’m cringing at what the Land of the Lost movie’s going to be like next year) but actually he was pretty good in Elf. He does that innocent fish out of water schtick pretty well when the character and script call for it.

  6. Oh, wait, A Christmas Story is on the list. How did I miss it? I must have scanned it three times ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. I used to pride myself in watching as many hours of the 24 hours of A Christmas Story as possible.

I make J watch Christmas Vacation with me every year, even though I really don’t like the holidays and J really doesn’t like Christmas Vacation.
