Fighting the Thanksgiving hangover

Fighting the Thanksgiving hangover Posted on December 1, 20084 Comments

I don’t know about you, but I am not refreshed after the long holiday weekend. I had all the chances in the world to sleep in, but the Modern Dog was determined that would not be the case.

The Modern Mom is a very early riser, and even though she’s quiet as a mouse when she gets up to get the paper and have a bowl of cereal, Lucydog would hear her, knowing it was her chance for FOOD and WALK, the highlights of her day. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard a 55-pound ball of solid muscle hit the floor after jumping out of bed, but it basically results in a very loud THUMP.

I probably would have managed to sleep go back to sleep except that when Lucy is done with FOOD and WALK, she’s ready to go back to bed. Which means all 55-pounds of muscle landing on top of me when she jumps back into bed. Rinse, lather and repeat for every slight movement my mom would make.

I’m going to bed early tonight, but if that doesn’t work for some reason, I’m employing these suggestions from Health magazine on how to shake the sleepies.

I am happy to report that we had a lovely Thanksgiving. Our dinner was the most stress-free holiday meal I’ve ever been involved in, thanks to there being just three participants compared to the usual 33. The food turned out absolutely perfect. We relaxed. We got some shopping in. I got called to do some work work but ended up wrapping up the humongous assignment which has been making my life hell these past few months. Life is good, bring on the Christmas music.

  1. I was so ready to crack out the Burl Ives Christmas record that I have been giddy over since the second grade, but decided to not torture my family just yet.

  2. I saw your twitters about working and that sucks! Probably why you don’t feel as rested.

    Hope you sleep better tonight.

  3. I don’t feel like I got any rest or relaxing done over the weekend. I feel like it was just busier than normal. I cannot wait to actually relax over Christmas break!

  4. Wait a sec… Go back to that second paragraph. I know EXACTLY what that sounds like! From below.

All day long, but mostly after bedtime.

Oh, and I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving.
