Cheaper gas and a road trip

Cheaper gas and a road trip Posted on August 12, 20085 Comments

The Cincinnati Enquirer’s series on gas prices actually offers some useful tips on saving money on gas. Stuff you may not have heard before. You can see a list of all their stories here, though some are a bit local in nature.

The most interesting bits of info:

  • Big-box stores sell the cheapest gas
  • Tuesday is the cheapest day to buy gas
  • Places where there’s lots of gas station competition will have the cheapest prices
  • Gas costs the most at stations near interstates

I guess I’ll be filling up tonight then to prepare for the roadtrip the Modern Beau and I are taking starting Thursday. Yes, that’s right: vacation. I’m not sure I’ve ever wanted/needed one so badly. We’re going to be heading for Asheville, a cute little mountain town in N.C. overrun by the hippies. It’s a great place for a getaway and only a short ride away. We’ll be meeting up with the BFF and her hubby, who’s a good friend of the MB. CANNOT WAIT.

I fully intend on taking a blogging vacation as well. A few of you have asked me about your MG Hall of Fame guest posts. I’m not setting any deadlines, so no pressure, but this week would be a fantastic time to submit them. Also, if anyone’s compelled to do any other kind of guest blog for the MG while she’s gone, I would love to have them. Again, just e-mail them my way anytime this week (even while I’m gone) and I’ll make sure they get posted.

  1. I love Asheville. And the North Carolina mountains. And basically the whole state of North Carolina. Minus UNC đŸ™‚ You have to listen to James Taylor when you’re there, it totally sets the mood.

  2. Have a blast in Asheville!!

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually tied for the cheapest day fo the week for gas. I’m amazed at how many people do not know this.

  3. I am very excited for you and your vacation. Asheville is an amazing place and I really hate that we are so far away from it now.

Get blogging!!! Let me know to what angle you would like me to write on and I would be than happy to post. You know my many, many, many areas that I rant about so just let me know.
